Performing Arts Committee
In the Spring of 1999, the Performing Arts Center, located at the Cambridge-Isanti High School, opened for the first performances. It is a beautiful facility, with great acoustics that seats 720. The goal for the school and the committee is to use The Performing Arts Center to its full potential.

Name: Patricia Anderson
Occupation: Retired
Why I’m on the committee: I'm on the PAC because I appreciate having good entertainment "close to home" at a reasonable cost. I volunteered at the first Natalie McMaster concert that I attended several years ago.
The things I do on the committee are: My main job is seeing that there are an adequate number of ushers at each performance; plus being in charge that evening. I also sit in on PAC meetings 7-8 times per year and bring suggestions as to performers I'd like to see at the PAC.
Favorite Performer I've seen at the Hardy Center: My favorite performers are "Go Fish" and Natalie McMaster. |

Why I’m on the committee: Partially as a part of my job, and partially because of a desire to bring good music and good shows to Cambridge-Isanti.
The things I do on the committee are: I handle all the financial aspects, I volunteer at many of the shows, I help with promotion and many of the other details.
Favorite Performer I've seen at the Hardy Center: Jeffrey Steele. He entertained us all for almost three hours. His music was great and he interacted with the crowd. He made it a fun concert. |

|
Name: Tom Willett
Occupation: Cambridge Economic Development Director
Why I’m on the committee: My first event was Clearwater Hot Club. I was impressed by the performance and disappointed in their playing such a small audience.
The things I do on the committee are: I have been working on marketing including a grant from Wal-Mart for a upgraded website, as well as on fund raising through increased sponsorships.
Favorite Performer I've seen at the Hardy Center: There have been many I have enjoyed, but Jeffrey Steele was by far the best. He is a great song writer, but also an exceptional singer and performer. |

|
Name: Tesha M. Christensen
Occupation: Assistant Editor at the STAR Newspaper in Cambridge
Why I’m on the committee: was drawn to the committee because of its shows. I've never seen a show at the Hardy Center that I didn't like. I love it that the musical offerings vary so much. It opens up my eyes to musicians I had never heard about before, lesser-known artists that are so very talented they blow me away. I believe that having a facility like this in my hometown is so valuable. I don't have to drive more than five blocks to see high quality performers, and I don't have to pay for parking! Because I see how important bringing in performers are at a local level, I choose to get involved on the committee. I've been on it for nearly 5 years, and I've really enjoyed it. It's just plain fun to put together theses shows and thrilling to meet the performers. I'm still not over the "coolness" factor!
The things I do on the committee are: A little bit of everything! MC the events, write press releases, snap photographs, design ads and programs, sell tickets and merchandise at shows, introduce sponsors to performers, distribute posters, and anything else that's needed.
Favorite Performer I've seen at the Hardy Center: I loved seeing Storyhill a few years ago. I've been a fan of theirs since college; thus it was simply thrilling for me to see them perform in my hometown, and more than that, to get to meet them. I also had the opportunity to host a meet and greet at my home that was attended by Monroe Crossing. Not only are they talented entertainers, but they proved to be wonderful people, as well.
And seeing the man who wrote many of my favorite country songs, Jeffrey Steele, was definitely exciting! |

Name: Roger Wm. Anderson, Chairperson
Occupation: Retired from working for the State of Minnesota
Why I’m on the committee: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is NOTHING like attending a live performance. Period. To actually see and hear the performers, up close and personal, performing just for you, is one of the most wonderful ways there is to treat yourself. If you know the performer’s work, all the better, but sometimes gambling on an unknown name can lead to a whole world of music that you may not have known before. As the chairman of the group, I get some extra "perks" also, like receiving many CDs to review and listen to of potential performers, and to get a chance to meet and visit with the various performers.
The things I do on the committee are: A little of everything. As chair, I call the meetings, conduct them, help the group decide on the who’s, what’s and where’s of performances, I write many of the press releases, do additional publicity, solicit sponsors to underwrite some performances, work on keeping the web page up to date, serve as stage manager the evening of the performance to make sure things go smoothly, work on getting contracts signed and details worked out, and many other tasks as they need to be done.
Favorite Performer I've seen at the Hardy Center: It’s hard to name just one. Natalie MacMaster, the Cape Breton fiddler/step dancer, has long been one of my favorites, but I think for sheer awesome talent and spunk, the performance by the late John Hartford ranks as one of the best. The way he played the fiddle and banjo, sang so many wonderful songs, (Gentle on My Mind in particular), and gave his all in the midst of fighting bone cancer, is one of the most memorable nights I’ve ever spent. |

Why I’m on the Performing Arts Committee: I’m on the PAC because I love music and art and I believe our lives are made better by the beauty they bring and the stories they tell. We reach out when we feel the joy and awe that marvelous performances inspire. We give and we help more.
The things I do on the committee are: My role on the PAC is to provide refreshments for the performers and audiences.
Favorite Performer I’ve seen at the Hardy Center: Greg Brown has been a favorite performer of mine for a long time. Jeffrey Steele is a new favorite.
